A while ago, BESA was allowed to carry out the engineering for a nice job in the Botlek. The existing tank pit had to be expanded to accommodate 6 extra tanks. However, the connecting piping had to be mounted over the existing pipe bridge. A challenging job in a tight space, combined with the operation of the piping due to pressure and temperature.
We started with a 3D scan of the existing situation and the new foundation of the 6 tanks. Subsequently, the tanks were placed on the foundation virtually in the 3D model, in order to calculate and model the piping and appendages. Once the tanks were installed, we performed another 3D scan to check whether all connections matched.
